H1 figures down for China’s footwear exports

China’s footwear industry exported 4.3 billion pairs in the first six months of this year, down by 4.6% compared to the same period last year. 

In terms of value, these exports brought in revenues of $19.8 billion, a fall of 8.6% year on year.  

Leather shoes contributed 240 million pairs to the total export volume, with a value of $3.3. These figures mean falls of 3.3% in volume and of 8.7% in value. 

Over the first six months of this year, China imported 74.5 million pairs of shoes and other footwear, with a value of $2.6 billion, falls of 17.3% and 2.3%, respectively. 

Of these, 21.2 million pairs of imported shoes were made from leather. These had a value of $1.1 billion. This means imported leather shoes were down by 14.7% in volume and by 2% in value compared to the first half of 2025.
