Brazil footwear exports decline in 2026
Brazil recorded a footwear trade deficit of US$3.6 million in July, according to data from the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados), based on Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) statistics.
Imports reached US$66 million and 4 million pairs during the month, with value stable but volume down 4.1% year on year. Exports fell 18.6% in value to US$62.38 million and 12.5% in volume to 6.28 million pairs.
In the first seven months of 2026, footwear imports rose 10.4% in value to US$373 million and 12.8% in volume to 29.9 million pairs. Exports fell 18% in value to US$470.6 million and 7.6% in volume to 55.3 million pairs.
Abicalçados said rising imports, particularly from Asia, are putting further pressure on Brazil's domestic footwear industry.
