Artisan network includes leather manufacturers, JM Weston says
Footwear brand JM Weston has included its leather suppliers in a tribute to the artisanship that allows it to keep producing its high-end shoes and boots.
It said the quality it is able to offer customers comes from “thousands of actions” that take place along the supply chain.
In addition to the quality-control experts and Goodyear-welt craftspeople in its manufacturing plant in Limoges, it also emphasised how important in the process its leather makers are.
Its leather comes from the Bastin tannery in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, 25 kilometres east of Limoges. The tannery was founded in 1806 but was acquired by JM Weston in 1981.
The company said all the hands that contribute to its production process are perpetuating “rare French know-how” and that each person “writes a chapter in the story”.
