Puma and Shincell launch collaboration on running foam

Under the partnership, Puma and Shincell will establish a dedicated laboratory in Suzhou, China, to test new materials, with the first products expected in upcoming seasons.
“With nitro we have the best running technology in the industry and the agreement with Shincell allows us to maintain that edge,” said Romain Girard, vice president innovation at Puma.
Shincell specialises in sustainable foaming technologies and lightweight high-performance foam materials, using a physical foaming process that traps micro and nano bubbles within plastics.
Dr Xiulei Jiang, CEO of Shincell, said the collaboration demonstrates the value of technology-focused innovation in global high-performance sportswear.
Puma launched nitro in 2021 and has since integrated it across running, training, football, basketball, and golf products. The foam has been tested by over 250 athletes in recent major marathons, helping nearly 100 runners achieve personal bests.
