British multinational clothing, footwear, and home products retailer, Next has acquired British footwear brand Russell & Bromley for £2.5 million ($3.4 million), along with £1.3 million of stock, following the company entering an insolvency process.

The 147-year-old brand, known for premium footwear, bags, and accessories, operates 36 stores and nine concessions in the UK and Ireland. Next’s purchase includes the brand, intellectual property, and three stores: Oxford Street, King’s Road, and Bluewater. The remaining stores and concessions will continue trading under administrator Interpath while their future is reviewed.

Next said the acquisition will ensure Russell & Bromley’s long-term stability and support its focus on premium design. CEO Andrew Bromley, the fifth-generation family member, described the sale as the best way to safeguard the brand’s future.
