Coats Rejo launches integrated footwear factory in Indonesia

Coats Rejo Indonesia, part of Coats Footwear, has begun construction of a new dyeing and finishing factory in Pleret, Pasuruan, East Java.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by East Java governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, UK honorary consul Ivy Kamadjaja, and Coats Rejo Indonesia managing director Binh Nguyen Phan Thi.

The €35.2 million investment will form part of what Coats says will be the world’s first fully integrated footwear components manufacturing site. The facility will combine twisting, dyeing, yarn finishing, and structural component production, with capacity projected to reach 9 tonnes per day by 2030 and create 547 new jobs.

Ms Binh Nguyen Phan Thi said the new site reflects Coats’ long-term commitment to innovation and sustainability, incorporating solar panels, circular design principles, and zero-waste targets. She added that the factory will strengthen local supply chains and support East Java’s economic development.
