Cirql introduces bio-based, biodegradable midsole foam
16/10/2025
Made with 36% bio-based content, Cirql Zero36 is fully biodegradable through industrial composting and produced using a patented, chemical-free supercritical foaming process suitable for Tier 1 facilities equipped with autoclave technology.
The lightweight material has a uniform microcellular structure designed for energy return, comfort and durability, making it a viable EVA replacement. Cirql said the new foam supports footwear brands in meeting regulatory, climate and performance goals.
Vice president and general manager Matt Thwaites said Cirql’s goal is to provide “trusted, scalable footwear material solutions” that reduce waste and promote circularity.
Cirql Zero36 has been third-party tested and is available as a finished component or polymer. The technology is protected by 25 patents, with more pending.
The new foam follows the launch of Cirql rTPU50, a GRS-certified recyclable midsole material introduced in September 2025, and Cirql Zero, which won the ISPO BrandNew Award for Sustainability in December 2024.
