Energy and carbon emissions savings on offer with new DSC material

The company said L-TAC can reduce energy usage and carbon emissions and also expand “design freedom” for footwear brands.
Key to this is the new material’s ability to mould at 120 degrees Celsius, compared to higher temperatures of up to 160 degrees in conventional foam materials.
DSC has calculated that this can deliver an energy saving of up to 50% for manufacturers, with a corresponding saving in carbon emissions.
In Milan, project manager, Vivian Chang, told Footwearbiz that the ability to mould the material at lower temperatures allows designers and brands to choose a wider range of materials for their insoles.
