New TPU foam midsoles from Cirql
Vietnam-based innovation company Cirql has introduced rTPU50, the latest addition to its range of recyclable midsoles.

The new material is made with 50% post-industrial recycled thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), certified under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). It is produced using a patented supercritical foaming process that does not require chemical blowing agents.

rTPU50 has been tested by third parties and is available either as a polymer or as a finished component. Cirql is also offering a co-moulded TPU outsole option, which removes the need for adhesive bonding and enables a glueless single-material bottom unit. The foam can also be conventionally bonded to other outsole materials currently used in the market.

According to the company, the material exceeds compliance standards due to take effect in 2025, while maintaining scalability for mass production. Cirql’s Vietnam factory obtained GRS certification in November 2024.

The rTPU50 midsole is designed for use in lifestyle, casual, recovery, safety and golf footwear and will be available to brands from the third quarter of 2025.
