Athletic footwear and clothing brand ASICS has launched a new collection in celebration of Tokyo.

The collection features two models of running shoe, the Megablast and the Sonicblast, alongside models that ASICS described as “refreshed classics”, with inspiration coming from the energy and colour of Japan’s capital city.

In terms of colour, shades of purple, inspired by the wisteria that bloom in Tokyo in springtime, symbolise “hospitality and grace”, the company said, while “bold accents of sunrise red” reflect the city’s fast pace.

Both new footwear products incorporate the group’s latest proprietary foam technology, FF Turbo Squared. ASICS has said this foam is more than 30% bouncier than the original FF Turbo product.
