Specialist sports clothing, footwear and equipment retail group Intersport has appointed Tom Foley as its new chief executive. He will take up the role on July 1.

Mr Foley was previously chief executive of French retail group Go Sport, taking up the position following Go Sport’s acquisition by Intersport, with the backing of Qatari group Al-Mana, in 2023. Before this, Mr Foley held a number of retail leadership roles at Al-Mana.

His track record with Intersport also includes a six-year spell as general manager of Intersport UK and Ireland. Before this, he founded the Independent Sports Retailers Alliance in his native Ireland.
