Ecco expands footprint with Mumbai store

Danish footwear brand Ecco is expanding its footprint in India with the launch of its first signature store at Mumbai’s Phoenix Palladium.

Since entering the Indian market in 2019, Ecco has seen consistent growth, driven by a rising demand for premium footwear. Country manager of Ecco India, Sumeet Lohia, credits this success to the increasing appeal of premium brands and a loyal customer base, with 50% of sales coming from repeat customers. Despite challenges facing the broader lifestyle sector, Ecco’s growth continues, particularly in top-tier cities.

With plans to expand further, Ecco is targeting metro cities and aims to open 25 exclusive stores by 2026, focusing on prime malls and high streets. Regional director for South East Asia and the Pacific, Patrick Sønderskov Iversen, highlighted Ecco’s long-term commitment to India, citing the country’s growing affluence and significant potential for expansion beyond 2026, with ambitions extending to 2030.
