Athletic footwear brand New Balance has donated $2 million to relief efforts aimed at helping communities affected by the January wildfires in California.

It sent $500,000 each to the American Red Cross and World Central Kitchen and said it would distribute a further $1 million to non-profit organisations that are “helping meet the unique challenges of re-building the Los Angeles community”.   

It has also donated footwear and apparel to those impacted by the wildfires through two charitable organisations, Shoes That Fit and Good Sports.
