In total, 932 footwear brands travelled to Milan to take part this time, 475 of them from Italy and 457 from other parts of the world, to display the collections they have prepared for the spring-summer 2025 season.
As representatives of the industry gathered for the event, Italy’s Assocalzaturifici announced that revenues for the country’s footwear manufacturers had fallen by 9.1% in the first half of 2024, with export revenues reducing by 8.5%, year on year.
Assocalzaturifici president, Giovanna Ceolini, said Micam was still a source of support for the national footwear sector, which she described as one of the pillars on which Made in Italy stands, boosting the image of the country internationally and contributing to economic growth.
“Micam is a unique shop-window and an essential event for finding out about what is happening at a state-of-the-art level in the sector,” she said. “When we gather in Milan, we don’t only find out about industry trends. Here, we have the opportunity to write the present and the future of footwear.”
