World Footwear issue four now available

The fourth and final issue of World Footwear for 2024 is now available to read online.

As always, the magazine presents in this issue innovative manufacturing techniques and materials, the subject area that sets World Footwear apart.

This time, these innovations include On’s spray-on uppers, as well as Huntsman’s liquid TPU for midsoles and its grippier TPU for outsoles, which it says could enable circular design.

The recycling of shoes is also the subject of a new Fashion for Good project, which is pooling big brands’ knowledge to set up collaborative systems.

We hear from research body Inescop about how AI is already making an impression on the factory floor, promising a pathway towards automation, but also possibilities for recruiting and retaining footwear factory workers, a subject we return to later in the magazine.

We also speak to Ventile about how brands are using its recycled cotton material in footwear. Also on the subject of materials, our cover story in this issue takes a look at the enduring appeal of cordovan.

We hope you enjoy reading every article.
