Further expansion in the US for JD Sports
Sports retail group JD Sports has completed the acquisition of US group Hibbett.
The Alabama-based company has 1,169 stores under the Hibbett and City Gear names across 36 US states. Its most recent annual results showed revenues of $1.7 billion.
JD Sports chief executive, Régis Schultz, said the acquisition was “a strategic milestone” in the largest sportswear market in the world.
He added that Hibbett’s footprint was “highly and fully complementary” to JD Sports’ existing presence in the US. It has Shoe Palace stores on the West Coast and DTLR stores on the East Coast.
