Growth and distribution celebrated in the French leather industry

According to the latest data, the sector employed nearly 36,100 individuals, reflecting a 5.6% increase compared to the previous year.
The industry encompasses 500 companies dispersed throughout the nation. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region emerges as a central hub, hosting 93 companies. Meanwhile, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Île-de-France regions also play significant roles, with 87 and 82 companies respectively.
The leather goods sector is the most prominent within the industry, comprising over 300 companies. The footwear sector follows, with 90 companies, and the "Tannerie Mégisserie" sector includes 34 companies. These statistics indicate a well-balanced distribution of enterprises across various specialisations.
This report underscores the dynamic nature and substantial economic contribution of the French leather industry, highlighting its widespread influence and presence across the country.
