Vietnam tannery will begin production this year, Sadesa says
Leather manufacturing group Sadesa has confirmed that production at a new tannery it is building in Vietnam will begin before the end of this year.
Sadesa said the new plant’s specialism would be leather for athletic footwear, with a capacity of 1.5 million square-feet per month.
It said sustainability was a key element of its $20 million investment in the new tannery, which will be located in the Phu My 3 specialised industrial park, 75 kilometres south-east of Ho Chi Minh City.
It is installing solar panels in an area covering 4,700 square-metres at the site, and plant-covered ‘green walls’ with a combined area of 1,000 square-metres. In addition, the new tannery will have the capacity to recycle 50% of the water it consumes.
