New issue of World Footwear available now
We have a new issue of World Footwear magazine available for readers to see at this link.
This time, we present a number of articles that touch on the anatomy of the foot and how it can (and should) influence the construction of lasts and the design of shoes. We also bring you an update from Portugal’s CTCP on a project to bring more biobased materials into footwear.
In Athletic and Outdoor, we examine the reasons why, in spite of all the hard work going on at footwear brands in sustainability, the real buzz still seems to come from devising design features that can help top athletes achieve performance gains.
In Safety and Work Shoes, our features cover a Patagonia project that supports soil regeneration and traditional craftsmanship, and Gore’s experiments with artificial intelligence and the eye-opening design ideas it can generate.
Lastly, in Business of Footwear, we explore the challenge the footwear industry faces in meeting European Union chemical regulations and the work that leather manufacturing group PrimeAsia is doing to give customers data and other evidence of progress in sustainability.
Sadly, this is the last issue of the magazine in which we will be able to rely on the knowledge and expertise of technical editor Philip Lattaway. We thank him for all his hard work and wish him well in what he chooses to do next.
