Cold-climate footwear and apparel company Baffin has named Ironman athlete Connor Emeny as its newest brand ambassador.

Already, at the age of 26, the youngest person to complete an Ironman on six continents, the Canadian endurance athlete set off for Antartica earlier this month, taking Baffin footwear and clothing with him.

The challenge he will take on will involve swimming a distance of 3.86 kilometres in water at a temperature of zero degrees, cycling 180 kilometres on ice and running a marathon in freezing air temperatures.

Baffin has equipped the athlete and his team with cold-weather apparel, high-performance winter boots, insulated slippers and rubber boots for the sea voyage south from Ushuaia in Argentina.

“The cold is what we know,” said Baffin senior vice-president Mark Hubner, “and as Connor faces the unique and formidable challenges of this expedition, we are proud to provide him with gear that will protect him from extreme conditions along the way.”
