Functional materials developer Sympatex will showcase two new technologies at the Lineapelle exhibition in Milan from February 20-22.

One of the innovations, Moisture-tech, offers fast sweat absorption and quick drying times in footwear materials. In addition, tests have shown it to offer wearers extra comfort through reducing heat inside the shoe by 45% compared to other technologies, Sympatex said.

The second technology, Non-woven, eliminates the use of polyurethane foam in the production of laminates. Sympatex said this has delivered a 10% reduction in carbon emissions and a 15% reduction in water consumption. It has replaced the polyurethane layer with non-woven material developed from 100% recycled polyester.
