Trade body to support GTT’s bid for business in Japan
Developer of PFAS-free water repellency technology for clothing and footwear materials Green Theme Technologies (GTT) has won support from an external trade body in Japan that it believes will help it develop its business in the Asian country.
GTT’s Empel textile finishing platform has already made an impression in Japan after zipper technology group YKK used it in a new collection of zips, DynaPel. YKK won an ISPO Textrends Best Product Award for DynaPel last year.
Now the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), a government-related body that promotes trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world, has given GTT approval for its Invest Japan support programme.
The Texas-based textile technology developer has said this will give it access to JETRO resources, through which it will aim to set up an office in Japan and forge further relationships with prospective Japanese partners.
GTT representatives will visit Japan from February 26-March 1 to meet prospective mill partners.
“Japan’s textile market is a place of innovation and quality,” said Martin Flora, president of business development at GTT. “Japanese mills understand that innovation is the way to keep their companies growing and competitive. We appreciate the support from JETRO in connecting us to the Japanese textile and fashion industries.”
