Recycled carbon fibre success for Toray

Fibres group Toray has announced a recycling breakthrough for its carbon fibre products.

It said it had successfully used a pyrolysis recycling process to take material from the wings of Boeing 787 aircraft to use as recycled carbon fibre in other products.

Initially, it has worked with consumer electronics company Lenovo to put the recycled carbon fibre in laptop computers. 

Toray’s carbon fibre products are also used in sports equipment manufacture.
