CEC has a new president

CEC, the European footwear industry confederation, has a new president; Rosana Perán took up the role on December 1, succeeding Portugal’s Luís Onofre.

Ms Perán, who is vice-president of Spanish footwear group Pikolinos, became the president of Spain’s national footwear industry body, FICE, in 2022.

On taking up the presidency of CEC, Rosana Perán said she wanted to push shoe producers in Europe forward towards what she called a new industrial revolution.

In explaining what she meant by this, she summed up her thoughts on what businesses will need to focus on by using three terms from Japanese business management philosophy: ‘henko’, which is meaningful and lasting change, ‘kaizen’, which has come to mean continuous improvement, and ‘ikigai’, which refers the feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment that workers have when they are free to pursue their passions.

She said combining these three “business pillars” would allow footwear companies in Europe to make progress in terms of their way of treating people, their use of technology and their way of managing resources and protecting the environment.
