Footwear puts a spring in Mizuno’s step

Japanese sports group Mizuno has reported revenues of around $750 million for the first six months of its current financial year, the six months to September 30.

It said its revenue for the second quarter was a record and that its results for the six-month period were up by 15.4% year on year.

Footwear was the group’s biggest category, bringing in revenues of close to $240 million. The figure for apparel was $203 million, while sports equipment brought in $199 million.

In terms of specific sports and activities, Mizuno’s biggest category was baseball, with sales of over $150 million. This compared to $122 million for golf, $82.9 million for running and $56.4 million for football.
