First-half figures fall at BASF

Chemicals group BASF has reported sales revenues of €37.3 billion for the first half of 2023, a fall of 19% compared to the first half of last year.
Its materials segment achieved revenues of just under €7.5 billion, which represents a decline of 23% year on year. The figure for chemicals was €5.5 billion, down by 34%.
BASF said the decline in sales was mainly driven by lower prices for its products.
