Bangladesh: small fall in leather footwear export revenues

The leather industry in Bangladesh registered growth of 2.5% in export revenues in the first nine months of the current financial year, reaching $919.7 million. The period covers July 2022 to March 2023.

Leather footwear exports contributed the largest amount with $534.2 million, although this represents a small decline year on year.

Shipments of finished leather contributed $93.2 million to the total, but this was down by 19.5% compared to the same period a year earlier.

Growth came from exports of leathergoods; these products brought in revenues of $292.3 million, up by 20.8% year on year.
