Real Leather, Stay Different open for entries
The Real Leather, Stay Different International Student Design Competition for 2023 is now open for entries.
After a record-breaking edition of the competition in 2022, with almost 2,000 entries from more than 130 universities and colleges across 40 countries, the competition is back.
It is open to students in higher education (or those who have graduated in the past year).
Designers can enter one of three categories: footwear, apparel or accessories, via this link. They have until June 30, 2023, to submit their entries.
The brief is to use leather as the inspiration for a single item in any of the three categories. Entries must be at least 50% bovine leather and any other materials used must be natural or organic materials where possible. Plastics must only be used where no natural alternatives are available.
Entries should include a brief summary in English of the project, storyboards and design inspiration, sketches, flats, technical specifications, and final design (the item does not need to be physically made at this stage) and an optional two-minute video to introduce designers and their designs.
The 2023 global final will take place in Milan on October 17, 2023.
