India’s leather footwear exports pass $2 billion in ten months

Figures for the first ten months of the current financial year (April 2022-January 2023) show that the Indian leather industry brought in export revenues of $4.5 billion, an increase of more than 13% year on year.

The value of shipments of finished leather was $356.9 million, a fall of 4.6%. But leather footwear exports grew in value by almost 25% and were above $2 billion for the ten-month period.

Exports of leathergoods had a value of $1.1 billion, up by 6.4%, and those of leather apparel also increased, by 5%, and reached $312.8 million.
