Portuguese footwear manufacturers exported 76 million pairs in 2022, bringing in export revenues of just over €2 billion.

These figures, from national footwear industry association Apiccaps, indicate an increase of 10.5% in volume and of 20.2% in value compared to the previous year.

Apiccaps said 95% of Portuguese footwear companies’ total output goes for export and that 80% of exports were to other European countries.

It also said that leather footwear accounts for 86% of export earnings.
