Milan in sight as Brazilian shoe brands look to build on 2022 exports
Footwear industry body Abicalçados has said 64 Brazilian shoe brands will exhibit at the forthcoming edition of Micam in Milan. The event next runs from February 19 to 22.
Abicalçados analyst Paola Pontin said Micam would present Brazil’s footwear sector with a good opportunity to build on a strong export performance in 2022. Last year, brands from Brazil exported 141.9 million pairs of shoes with a value of $1.3 billion, which represented the best figures in 12 years.
Ms Pontin said Micam was likely to attract around 30,000 buyers, especially from Italy, France, Germany and Spain, but with many from the US and Japan too.
An export promotions programme called Brazilian Footwear is providing assistance to the companies that will travel to Milan for the event.
