Shoe brand pays tribute to Vivienne Westwood
Footwear brand Dr Martens has paid tribute to fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, who died at the end of December.
It said Vivienne Westwood had been “the undenied Queen of counter-culture” thanks to her talent and her rebellious spirit.
The designer rose to prominence in 1970s London owing to her influence on the punk scene. “Vivienne never turned down the volume,” Dr Martens said. “She spoke up for our planet, she defended its communities and carried on fighting for justice when others gave up. That’s what we call the true essence of punk.”
As part of its tribute to her, it shared on social media an image of a pair of 1460 boots that Vivienne Westwood customised.
