Footwear foundation supports simple campaign to help Ukrainian refugees
A charitable organisation set up by Europe’s largest footwear retailer, Deichmann, to promote social and welfare projects, Deichmann-Stiftung, is funding a simple but important campaign this winter.
Funding from the foundation is helping the German Foundation for Consumer Protection provide targeted information about energy-saving to people who have settled in Germany after fleeing the war in Ukraine.
The consumer protection body has said Ukrainian people are used to easy and affordable access to energy in winter. It raised concerns that the rising prices consumers in Germany and many other parts of the world are facing this winter could hit Ukrainian refugees particularly hard.
With the help of Deichmann-Stiftung, it has designed an information campaign to make Ukrainian people aware of resource-saving ideas to help protect them from falling into debt.
Deichmann-Stiftung project leader, Jakob Adolf, said the campaign was important. He explained: “Refugees can easily find themselves in an emergency if they do not know their rights and obligations as consumers. We are pleased that this project is providing them with helpful information and we are happy to support it.”
