Bangladesh: shoes make up for leather export fall

The Bangladesh leather industry achieved export revenues of $537.5 million in the first five months of the current financial year, the period from July to November 2022. This represents growth of 17% year on year, according to the country’s Export Promotion Bureau.

Finished leather exports brought in $55.5 million, which is a small decline, 1.6%, compared to the figures for the July-November period in 2021. But there were increases in other categories.

Exports of leathergoods increased by more than 25% to reach a value of $153.75 million, while shipments of leather footwear increased by 17% to reach $328.1 million.
