Footwear group Bata has presented a new collection from its athletic shoe brand Power that highlights concerns about plastic waste polluting the oceans of the world.

Called ‘Love Ocean’, the collection comprises athletic style shoes that have lightweight, breathable uppers made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. The midsole and outsole are made of lightweight EVA, with 10% recycled rubber grain.

Designed in Canada, Power Love Ocean shoes also feature an Ortholite Lifesole Hybrid insole. It is made with 5% recycled rubber and 15% recycled foam.

Bata said this was “just the beginning” and that Power would aim to expand its eco-friendly offering year by year.
