Capsule collection from Cole Haan and Pendleton supports national parks
Footwear brand Cole Haan has announced a new, limited-edition seven-piece footwear and bag collection that it has developed with a Portland-based manufacturer of woollen blankets and other traditional products, Pendleton.
The collection was inspired by a collection of blankets that Pendleton developed and named after the Acadia National Park in Maine. The blankets feature stripes and an earth-toned palette with hints of granite, sunset, gold and sky blue.
Design teams from both brands worked to combine the stripes into an original wool plaid, which they have described as rugged, but dignified. This constitutes the higher part of the upper of the shoes in the collection, with leather on the lower part. The shoes are a version of Cole Haan’s Grand Longwing oxfords.
Sales of the items in the collection will generate donations to the National Park Foundation, the philanthropic organisation of the US’s network of national parks.
