Life after Caleres for Carlos Santana’s shoe brand
Guitarist and songwriter Carlos Santana is back in the shoe business.
The nine-times Grammy award winner has taken back control of his Carlos By Carlos Santana shoe brand from footwear group Caleres and will launch a new collection before the end of 2022.
He launched the brand in 2001, working with Caleres (formerly Brown Shoe). Caleres retained its licence for the brand until 2019.
Now the musician has linked up to work again with two former executives at the group, Gary Rich and Rick Gelber, to relaunch the brand under a new company, Jubilation.
Its first collection under this new structure will consist of casual and dress shoes, boots, and fashion sneakers with leather uppers. The footwear will be manufactured in Brazil and Italy and retail prices will range from $100 to $250 per pair.
Sales will support the Milagro Foundation, begun by Carlos Santana and his family in 1998 to support underrepresented and vulnerable children and youth around the world in the areas of arts, education and health.
