Growth for Bangladesh footwear exports

21/10/2022

Overall leather exports from Bangladesh had a value of $328 million in the first three months of the current financial year, July-September, an increase of 21% compared to the same period a year earlier 2021.

Leather footwear exports had a value of $211 million, growth of 25% year on year.

The overall figure and the figure for leather footwear are both ahead of targets set by Bangladesh’s export promotions bureau.

Leathergoods and finished leather, however, failed to meet the target. Leathergoods exports had a value of $82 million, up by 17% compared to the same period of 2021, but 12% short of the target.

In the same vein, finished leather exports grew by 8% year on year, amounting to $34 million, but this was 10% short of the target.
