China and Vietnam dominate US footwear imports
In the first five months of the year, US footwear imports increased by 25.6% to reach a volume of 1.13 billion pairs compared to the same period last year, according to the US Commerce Department.
China led the way exporting a total of 662 million pairs in the five-month period, rising by 28.6% year on year. Number-two supplier, Vietnam, delivered 255 million pairs over the same period, a 10% increase year on year.
Combined imports from China and Vietnam in the five-month period represented an 81% market share.
