CEOs push on green energy
The chief executives of seven major US groups, including Steve Rendle of VF Corporaion, parent company of Timberland, have sent a joint letter to urge congressional leaders to pass a new climate and clean-energy package.
In the letter, they said the package would reduce energy costs for families and companies and “secure the energy future” of the US.
Specific ideas outlined in the letter include clean energy, sustainable transportation, and energy efficiency projects. The CEOs said these measures would lower emissions while achieving better price stability and energy security.
“It’s easy to focus on the cost of climate action,” the letter said, “but the increasing severity and frequency of unprecedented and costly extreme weather events make it crystal clear that the cost of inaction is far higher.”
