Online opportunities in the US for Brazilian brands

Brazil’s national footwear industry association, Abicalçados, has announced a new project that will aim to boost online sales opportunities in the US market for shoe brands from the South American country.

Letícia Sperb Masselli, who coordinates commercial projects for Abicalçados, has explained that the organisation has worked with a consultancy with knowledge of the Brazilian footwear sector to set up a dropshipping platform for member companies.

Under the new set-up, footwear companies in Brazil will work with an online retail partner who will generate orders from customers in the US, with the orders being fulfilled from a warehouse facility in North America. Ms Sperb Masselli said the initiative would give Brazilian brands good exposure among US consumers and a good opportunity to convince shoppers there of the quality of Brazil’s footwear.

The US is already Brazil’s biggest export market for shoes. In the first half of 2022, brands shipped 11.9 million pairs to the US, earning revenues of $181.8 million. Abicalçados said these figures represented growth of 88% in volume and of 106.7% in value.
