Logistics improvement plan complete at Mephisto
Footwear brand Mephisto has completed an improvement project at its distribution centre in eastern France.
The shoe company’s logistics director, Christian Kalch, said the facility had been in use for 30 years, but that the project had led to an increase in the useable area on the floor of the 18,000 square-metre site.
It embarked on the plan because it wanted to increase the number of orders it is able to fulfil from there each day.
It said it will now be able to dispatch 3,500 orders each day to stores all over the world. Mephisto has 900 own-brand stores worldwide and a further 18,000 retail partner outlets stocking its shoes.
Mr Kalch said the project set up further future improvements in storage and order-picking using automation.
