Eleven designers came together in Austria recently to work for a weekend on new creations made from industrial residues and leather offcuts to give a second life to these scraps, with minimal use of additional materials.

This was the focus of a project called DesignCamp that was conceived by Creative Industries Styria (CIS) and ZweckZwei (second use), an organisation that is committed to recycling and repurposing materials so as to use fewer natural resources.

Leather manufacturer Wollsdorf Leather participated in the project. The prototypes produced by the designers went on display at an exhibition in Graz called ‘ZweckZwei – Shift Circular Design’. It ran until mid-June.
