Easing of restrictions in China take pressure off luxury brands

After two months of being confined at home, inhabitants of Shanghai, Beijing and other cities have been allowed to venture out on to the streets again as covid infection rates fall.

This has come as a relief to high-end retailers, whose oerformance has suffered from having to close their stores in premium shopping locations in major Chinese cities.

Luxury brands have also taken encouragement from tentative easing of restrictions in Japan, where tourists are again being permitted to enter the country, albeit with a limit of 20,000 visitors per day.
