The innovation, named the J850 TechStyle 3D printer, offers “unlimited possibilities” for the personalisation and customisation of 3D-printed articles, Stratasys said. It has been created to print directly onto leather, linen, cotton, denim and polyester, among other materials, at volumes as wide-ranging as “tens of thousands” to a single piece.
Already available for purchase, the new printing technology and its associated materials will be exhibited alongside samples of footwear and other products during Milan Design Week in June.
International trend forecaster Lidewj Edelkoort described the printer as “an answer to a million prayers” from the broader creative community.
