Roh Seoul broadens footwear offer
Following the success of its initial footwear launch last autumn-winter, then limited to three styles, Seoul-based fashion and leathergoods brand Roh plans to increase its footwear offering to 40% of its product mix with immediate effect, according to reports from within South Korea.
To this end, the brand has created a dedicated shoe division and hired designers from brands including Genie by Eugenia Kim.
Pointing to the popularity of Roh footwear to date, the company told local media that it is now on its tenth reorder of its Mary Jane design, alone. The style launched last season and is presently available in either sheepskin, velvet, canvas or Lenzing’s Eco Clean, which is made from chlorine-free, wood-based Tencel modal fibres.
Roh was founded by artist, designer and current chief executive, Dongkyoon Roh, in 2014.
The majority of the brand’s sales come from its own e-commerce website, but it also has a presence in local department stores including Musinsa and Shinsegae. It reportedly plans to expand its offline presence by introducing various pop-up boutiques, plus open a showroom in the Hapjeong-dong neighbourhood within the year.
