Bangladesh leather footwear exports up by 28%
Bangladesh’s leather industry has reported export revenues of $896.8 million for the first nine months of the current financial year, the period from July 2021 and March 2022, an increase of more than 30% compared to the same period in the previous financial year.
Leather footwear exports brought in nearly $540 million, up by 28%. Finished leather contributed $115 million towards the total and registered year-on-year growth of nearly 40%.
Leathergoods exports were worth $242 million over the nine-month period, an increase of 34%.
These figures mean the industry in Bangladesh is ahead of its government-set target of achieving just over $1 billion in export revenues for the full financial year, which ends in June.
