French footwear industry body the Fédération Française has created three new films that explain the shoe manufacturing process. The films feature a total of six member companies: Danse Azur, Merlet Dance, Heller, Exquise, La Manufacture 49 and JM Weston.

The federation will soon upload the films onto YouTube, but invited around 50 students from schools in different parts of France to a preview in mid-March. Representatives of all six footwear companies to feature were on hand to meet the students and answer their questions.

Subjects that featured in the discussion included design, repairability, skills transfer, sustainable design, bringing production back to Europe and recruitment.
