Assomac doubles up dialogue efforts at industry events

Italy’s footwear and machinery manufacturers will double their efforts to share information about innovative technology at industry exhibitions in the early part of this year.

As previously announced, industry association Assomac has decided to stick with autumn dates for the Simac-Tanning Tech exhibition, which will next run in Milan from September 21-23, in parallel with the autumn edition of Linepelle.

To help bridge the gap, Assomac arranged to set up a technology lounge at the year’s first edition of Lineapelle (February 22-24 this year), which is when Simac-Tanning Tech used to run in the years before covid.

Another part of the original plan for February was to have footwear exhibition Micam and leathergoods event Mipel overlap with Lineapelle. At the start of 2022, however, the organisers of Micam and Mipel said they wanted to wait until March to leave more time for covid cases to reduce and allow more international visitors to travel to Milan for the shows.
Now, Assomac has said it will host a second technology lounge at Micam, from March 13-15.

These lounges will serve as a meeting space for Assomac member companies to use to meet customers, hold conversations about innovations that are in the pipeline and will be on display at Simac-Tanning Tech later in the year. The association said it wanted to support the industry events taking place in this first part of the year and offer a physical presence there to allow shoe manufacturer to enter into dialogue with its member companies following the pandemic.

Assomac director general, Roberto Vago, said he felt the industry was entering a period of economic recovery, but that this recovery would be “complex and tough”. He said: “We have decided to intensify our presence and to support our member companies.”
