Growth for Turkish leather-sector exports
Official figures from Turkey show leather-sector export values of more than $1.75 billion in 2021, an increase of 29% compared to the previous year.
Footwear accounted for most of this, at just over $1 billion. Finished leather exports brought in $270 million, leathergoods $240 million and leather garments $200 million.
Italy was the biggest export market, buying $98 million worth of products from the Turkish leather sector. This was ahead of Spain’s $87 million, the UK’s $72 million, the US’s $67 million and France’s $63 million.
